PAMED met Melissa at Williamsport Regional Hospital. Many of you might know Williamsport as the community that hosts the Little League World Series each summer.
The hospital is a bright, active place that serves many rural and suburban communities in north central PA. Melissa seemed to know everyone one who worked there, from physicians to administrators to the maintenance staff. She had a smile and a kind word for them all.
Her Pathway to a medical career:
There were several influential people in her life with significant careers in medicine. Melissa discovered early on that she is not a clinical person. She found her niche in administration.
A typical workday for Melissa:
Melissa is the COO/Vice President of Susquehanna Health Medical Group. She works for two multi-specialty medical groups within an integrated health system and brings that perspective to her work. A typical workday involves working with different groups—physicians, providers, hospital colleagues, patients, and others—to ensure that goals are aligned. Her career is a real passion for her, and it’s very evident how much she cares about her community and the people in it.
