Because women and men who are being abused often consult their physicians or other health care providers before calling police or domestic violence services, the health system provides a crucial opportunity to identify and help victims.
To increase awareness and assist you in identifying victims of domestic violence, the Pennsylvania Medical Society—in conjunction with the Department of Public Welfare, Pennsylvania-based health plans, the Department of Health, Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape, the Managed Care Association of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania State Police—created the following reference tools for you and your patients.
You may print these materials to use in your waiting room or give to your patients. For more information, call the Member Services Department at (800) 228-7823.
