Many Pennsylvania physician practices are being asked to consider joining an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) or multiple ACOs operating in a physician’s delivery market. According to Avalere Health, as of January 2015 there were 24 Medicare Shared Savings Program and Pioneer ACOs operating in Pennsylvania. Additionally, as of May 2015 there were 12 commercial ACOs operating in Pennsylvania. The movement toward ACO creation is here and expanding in Pennsylvania.
